Big Google Release To Significantly Impact Small Businesses non-mobile optimized websites to be penalized in search results
In the USA, 94% of people with smartphones search for information on their phones. Interestingly, 77% of mobile searches occur at home or at work, locations where desktop computers are likely to be present.
On April 21, 20015, a new search algorithm update will favor websites that Google defines as "mobile-friendly." Websites that meet the criteria will be more likely to appear at the top of the rankings - a prized position that can translate into more visitors and money.
“While most major merchants and big companies already have websites likely to meet Google's mobile standard, the new formula threatens to hurt millions of small businesses that haven't had the money or incentive to adapt their sites for smartphones. For those who have to implement the changes traditionally, it will be difficult, expensive, and take time,” says Michael Liedtke from AP News.
